Cellular service provider, Nashua Mobile has signed South African rugby captain, John Smit and South African cricket captain, Graeme Smith, for their recently launched national advertising campaign, ‘It’s For Everyone’. Aiming to unite South Africa and the sporting community ahead of the much anticipated 2010 soccer World Cup, the local commercial is the first-ever to feature SA’s famed captains alongside each other. “Due to Vodacom’s sponsorship role in rugby and MTN’s involvement in cricket, Graeme and John make for an unlikely partnership in a cellular ad campaign,” comments Nashua Mobile Marketing Director, Doug Mattheus. He continues: “Moving into 2010 we will continue to communicate messages of support from SA’s top sporting personalities in cricket, rugby and other sporting codes, encouraging locals to stand proud and be part of the World Cup initiative.” Filmed on Camps Bay beach, John and Graeme participate in an energetic game of beach football. Amicably supporting their respective teams, they wait patiently for their turn to play. The advert concludes with numerous special offers and rotates between John and Graeme endorsing Nashua Mobile’s Vodacom and MTN holiday offers. “Nashua’s ‘It’s For Everyone’ campaign sets the benchmark in successfully collaborating two sporting greats with a local brand. With 2010 around the corner and SA’s recent successes in the international sporting arena, local brands should capitalise on SA’s fanaticism about sports and their fixation with sporting celebrities,” comments Prosport International’s global managing director of rugby and cricket, Craig Livingstone. The television advert is currently being aired daily across all SABC channels and DSTV, and is also available on YouTube. In addition, Nashua Mobile will also be activating their ‘It’s For Everyone’ print and bus campaigns in December 2009.
